MAN STREET CLEANING AND WINTER SERVICE VEHICLES

MAN STREET CLEANING AND WINTER SERVICE VEHICLES – A WHOLE PACKAGE OF CLEANING FUNCTIONS WITH AN IMMACULATE PERFORMANCE.

Around 31.7 million kilometres of road, motorway and pavement need to be cleared of waste, dirt, leaves and snow around the world – a mammoth task which MAN trucks have been optimally designed to tackle. The constantly growing number of plastic cups and cardboard boxes being thrown away is a particular challenge for municipal street cleaning operators in big cities.

Fitted with sweepers, suction units, spraying systems, gritters and snowploughs, MAN street cleaning and winter service vehicles help you to remove troublesome remnants of everyday life and the weather from the city streets.

YOUR CHALLENGE. OUR SOLUTION.

Application-specific bodies

Not all street cleaning tasks are the same – and every task requires an entirely different body: while sweepers are used for normal rubbish, suction machines are needed for leaves, blowers are needed for dust and ploughs are needed for snow. As municipal vehicles are generally only operated seasonally with application-specific bodies, they stand unused in a depot for the rest of the year.

Cost-saving multi-functionality

A special feature in the market is the MAN combination chassis, which can be used for both street cleaning and winter road clearance. It is very easy to swap the bodies. This multi-functional solution makes underutilised fleets a thing of the past. Those who prefer separate individual solutions can choose our sweeper and winter service packages ex works.

Increased transport costs

A thinned-out network of landfills and thermal treatment plants means that transport routes between collection areas and unloading points are getting longer and longer. The increased fuel consumption results in higher transport and disposal costs.

Economical engines

We help you to save fuel with our particularly economical engines. Another advantage is that you can fill up our engines with environmentally friendly biodiesel.

Energy-intensive sweepers and ploughs

Sweepers and winter service vehicles need a constant energy supply to be ready for work 24/7.

Powerful PTOs

Instead of a separate auxiliary engine, which produces additional exhaust gases and limits the payload, the MAN engines with up to 640 HP provide the required power for PTOs, which then supply the cleaning units with energy on the move.

Large speed fluctuations

Journeys taken by municipal street cleaning operators generally involve constantly changing between high speeds while en route to their destination and very low speeds while sweeping or clearing snow. This is a constant load, which strains the engine and the gearbox.

Customised gear-shift strategy

Our MAN TipMatic® Sweeper gear-shift program, which has been specially developed for street cleaning, automatically adjusts the gear-shift timings and engine speed to the driving or cleaning mode. This means you go easy on the engine and gearbox, saving fuel as a result. Depending on your requirements, you have the choice between hydrostatic drive and non-hydrostatic drive.

Extreme weather conditions

Sweepers and winter service vehicles can be put to use in all weather conditions. They need to be able to travel on oil-covered roads, as well as on wet leaves, snow or ice.

Powerful drive variants

If you have particularly high traction requirements, we recommend permanent or selectable all-wheel drives. If you only sometimes require increased traction, the selectable hydrostatic MAN HydroDrive® front-axle drive is perfect for you. It is 400 kg lighter and consumes significantly less fuel compared to typical all-wheel drives.

Heavy equipment

Street cleaning and winter service vehicles carry heavy loads. The large collection container for refuse is indispensable. There is also a water tank for washing away the dirt. In winter, the water is replaced by grit.

High payload

MAN chassis are light-weight – and this means they can carry even more. Thanks to the combination of reduced-weight chassis, engines and drives, MAN chassis have a payload advantage – and are therefore among the lightest on the market.
