Adaptive cruise control (ACC Stop & Go) automatically controls the speed of the truck as well as the distance to the traffic ahead. The Stop & Go function now also supports the driver in traffic jams or heavy traffic. For significantly reduced strain on the driver and increased traffic safety.
Prevention of rear-end collisions
Especially when travelling in a convoy and on well-constructed country roads, both the vehicle’s own speed and the distance to the vehicle in front is often underestimated. The adaptive cruise control (ACC Stop & Go) applies the brakes automatically in good time as required and keeps a constant safe distance. This avoids emergency braking situations, which often result in rear-end collisions. The Stop & Go function now also reduces the strain on the driver by automatically braking to a halt and moving off in city traffic and traffic jams.
Radar and camera - two sensor systems for maximum reliability
The adaptive cruise control (ACC Stop & Go) works using two independent sensor systems - radar and camera. The radar sensor detects vehicles driving in front and calculates their speed, distance and position to the driver’s own truck. The camera in the windscreen has an independent object recognition feature and also detects the lane markings. This means that the vehicle in front can be detected reliably and with high precision even in case of complex road geometries, poor weather conditions or darkness.
Maximum operating comfort
The driver can simply set the desired speed using the multifunction steering wheel. This speed is held without needing to operate the accelerator pedal. In addition, the driver can set the desired safety distance to the vehicle in front in four different levels. When the road is clear, the vehicle accelerates to the desired speed set by the driver. If the system detects slower vehicles in front, speed and distance are adjusted automatically.
Extended function: Stop & Go
The extension of the adaptive cruise control to include the Stop & Go function now allows the system to be used in traffic jams or city traffic. If the traffic comes to a halt, the truck brakes automatically until stationary with the aid of the Stop & Go function, and for short stops under two seconds even moves off automatically. If stopped for more than two seconds, the service brake is automatically applied. The vehicle then moves off by operating the accelerator pedal or a button on the multi-function steering wheel. This means that in future the strain on the driver is also reduced in slow-moving traffic. Traffic jams can thus be mastered without stress and rear-end collisions can be avoided.
The MAN BrakeMatic intelligent braking management ensures the optimum work allocation between the service and continuous brakes of your MAN truck. This guarantees you superior, low-wear braking at all times - even on long steep inclines.
Gain valuable reaction time: The Emergency Brake Assist (EBA) provides immediate warning in the event of an imminent collision and even stops the truck independently if needed. In addition, the Emergency Stopping Signal (ESS) warns vehicles behind.
Safely on track with the MAN lane assists: The Lane Guard Support (LGS) warns the driver if they accidentally leave the lane. The Lane Return Assist (LRA) actively intervenes if the vehicle leaves a lane without the indicator being operated.
